The process of having a successful event involves four steps:

  1. Gather Promotional Materials

  2. Spread the Word and Generate Buzz

  3. Maximize Income Streams

  4. Laugh All the Way to the Bank!

1. Gather promotional materials (We handle the hard part)

The success of your event depends, above all, on promotion. Not only do supporters need to know about the show, they need to know why this is a show they don’t want to miss. We will provide you with a digital design for , full colour posters, social media posts and evening programs. For an example of some of our past posters click the link to our promotions page.

Depending on the size of your event, it may be advantageous to have us provide you with a video promotion, examples of some of our past videos are available on our promotions page.

2. Spread the word and generate buzz

Now that you have your graphics, people need to know about your event and where they can buy tickets.

Tickets

Some of your supporters will want the option to purchase tickets online. Some will want paper tickets. If your organization doesn’t already have its own ticketing system, easy printable tickets can be found on Amazon or countless other providers. Online tickets can be sold on your organization’s website store or you can sell tickets online by using sites like EventBrite or PayPal.

Creating Buzz

Now that you have tickets to sell, it’s time to get the word out about your show. The easiest way to ensure success is to have everyone in your organization identify a small number of people who would enjoy the event. If you have 20 people, each selling 5 tickets, it is way easier than one person trying to sell 100 tickets. Usually people will find it relatively easy to find 2 couples who would like to go with them for a night out of fun and laughter.

It also makes sense to use all free or inexpensive means to promote your event. The easiest way is to create a deliberate plan for your social media. It makes a difference to schedule a number of posts leading up to the event to remind people that your event is a big deal, not to be missed. These posts can include bios of the comedians, video samples of their performance, reminders of where the money that will be raised will go to, etc. You may also want to try a social media contest for free tickets for anyone who shares you events on their social network. A Facebook Event Page is a must. Designate someone from your team to manage the event page. If you don’t feel comfortable with technology or would just prefer that someone else manage this for you, our team will be happy to help. Other ways to generate buzz are to poster your town with event posters. Put it up in the grocery store, arena, post office and any other local business or highly visible area. This also gives you a chance to talk to local businesses to check their interest in being a sponsor, having their staff attend the event or even sell tickets from their location. The more involvement from the community, the more people working at making this event a success. Use your local radio stations to support your event. Most radio station will give time to promote your event if there is a charitable component to the money raised. Also consider approaching local cable stations to be sponsors by donating unsold advertising inventory.

3. Maximum money generated

Whether you are fundraising as your primary goal of your event or you are a business looking to generate business, there are many ways to generate extra profit to support your community.

Sponsors

Ask a local printer to be a sponsor your event by printing programs and posters to post around town.

Many large corporations have budgets to support events in communities that they operate. Don’t be afraid to ask, they are always looking for ways to spend this budget and be a part of a good cause that makes their company look good for supporting.

Ask your newspaper and radio people to be involved by interviewing performers, 3-10 days prior to the event.

Ask your local cable provider to be a sponsor by using unsold inventory to promote your event

Create an event program so you can offer sponsors ad space. You can also allow them to hang a banner or put up a display for the event.

See if a local restaurant want to sponsor your event by providing food. Sell it as dinner to increase $$$.
